This AMI refresher course focuses on the Montessori Language Curriculum for children aged six to twelve. It is specifically designed for Montessori teachers who hold the AMI Diploma in Primary Education (6-12), but other AMI guides, Montessori educators in general.

Objectives:
- Understand the principles of reading and writing within the Montessori method for stages 6-12.
- Know and practice Montessori materials that favor the transition from word to text and reading comprehension.
- Develop strategies to promote reading habits and the integration of reading in all curricular areas.
- Explore specific aids (optical, phonetic, graphomotor and oral expression) to improve reading fluency and the quality of writing.
- Learn to select and use books and texts appropriately in the classroom.
- Relate reading and writing to Cosmic Education, research projects and oral presentations.
- Enhance children's critical and collaborative capacity through reading, text correction and debate.
- Provide the Montessori guide with tools to observe, monitor and accompany individual reading and writing processes.

- Selection of appropriate books for the classroom: literary and knowledge.

- Phonetic aid: phonemes, spellings, syllables and words.
- Optical/optometric aid for fluency and reading speed.
- Support materials for spelling and letter writing.
- Variables to improve handwriting and style.
5Reading strategies and techniques
- Exercises to improve fluency and reading comprehension.
- Strategies to guide the reading of texts.
- Types of texts and model analysis.
- Reading aloud and diction.
- Total reading vs. diagonal reading.
6Text production and correction
- Help in creating and improving sentences.
- Variables to enrich the writing style.
- Collaborative correction of texts.
7Observation and accompaniment
- Follow-up and observation of individual reading.
- Feedback strategies and adaptation to diversity.
- Final debate: aids to reading and writing and shared experiences.
