Program:

This third edition of the music course with Montessori AMI materials offers a complete immersion in musical resources that put music at the center of the educational experience in stages 6-12.

On the first day we will begin with singing and setting activities, exploring the benefits of music and its integration in the classroom, as well as the role of the environment prepared for music and specific materials and books. We will delve into working with bells (bringing them, pairing them, exploring sounds), singing in the classroom, tone bars (high and low sounds) and gradation, tones and semitones activities, which prepare the child to understand the tetrachord and the major scale pattern.

We will also introduce the degrees of the scale, the major scale model tape and we will practice creating, singing and writing songs with numbers, which we will then learn to play with numerical scores. Participants will experiment with teamwork in the environment, applying patterns, gradations and scales collaboratively.

On the second day we will delve deeper into rhythm: definition, strong pulsation and representation of sounds; rhythmic elements and patterns; and the identification and reproduction of measures. Next we will work on the history of the grand staff, the C major scale and the treble clef, establishing connections with the tone bars and with the recognition of notes in lines and spaces. We will learn the nomenclature of the parts of the staff, we will do dictations and exercises with note and rhythm posters, and we will work on songs in teams with notes and other materials.

In the afternoon, we will focus on musical listening: obstacles, aids, games and active listening, accompanied by listening examples and a vision of the history of music and styles. We will continue with the study of the grand staff and the treble clef, the alterations (sharps, flats and becuadro), other major scales and key signatures, and an introduction to scales and chords.

Finally, we will experiment with the production of sounds and experiment cards, percussion instruments and other musical instruments. Participants will experience the practice of playing in a small band or classroom orchestra, sharing everything they have learned and giving meaning to music as a collective and living activity.

The course provides all the written documents of the activities and prioritizes understanding and direct practice with the materials and exercises. There will be no subsequent assignments to submit: learning is experienced and consolidated during the sessions.
